The first Hotel was built in 1858 and the adjacent railway line was completed in 1885. Early days saw farmers and timber workers as the main patrons. The present heritage hotel was rebuilt on the same site after a fire in 1910.

Railton Hotel has seven standard rooms with shared bathroom facilities and one room with private bathroom. Camping with shower and bathroom facilities is available at the rear of the hotel, in addition to on-site car parking and mountain bike storage.
A separate function space, the Oregon Room, caters for up to 35 people and can be booked for special events or meetings.
